LOON LAKE PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Loon Lake Property Owners Association (LLPOA) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. The purpose of LLPOA is to help maintain, protect, and when possible enhance the quality of Loon and Cadotte Lakes (the Lake) and its surroundings, for the collective interests of its members, other users of the Lake, and the general public.

To accomplish this purpose, LLPOA endeavors to:

  • Unite property owners and other interested parties in this common cause;
  • Educate our members and other Lake users about activities that affect water quality, both positively and negatively, and encourage eliminating practices that degrade water quality
  • Develop programs that study, test, analyze, and evaluate water quality changes and how these changes relate to the seasons, Lake and lakeshore use, and broader environmental impacts such as acid rain
  • Stimulate social and volunteer endeavors among LLPOA members and their guests for the benefit and interest of the Lake.

  • A majority of the 76 homes on Loon Lake are LLPOA members. A continuing goal is to increase membership in order for all residents to support LLPOA efforts to be good stewards of our Lake. Members have the opportunity to learn about and get involved with many aspects of Lake activity.

These have included:

  • A water quality study (2005) supported by a WI DNR grant
  • Partnering with Burnett County on an Aquatic Plant Management Plan (2019)
  • Giving a voice to members on a myriad of Lake management issues, road improvements, and area communication services
  • Ongoing monitoring and WI DNR reporting of Lake water quality
  • Creation and dissemination of an annual newsletter to all interested Lake users
  • Participation in the 4th of July boat parade and ice cream social
  • Participation in informal Lake gatherings to meet fellow members/residents
  • CPR and AED (defibrillator) training and certification
  • Donations of cash and equipment to Webb Lake First Responders
  • Monitoring and reporting on loon activity on the Lake
  • Building loon nesting platforms on the Lake
  • Documenting the history of the Lake
  • Educating members on Lake issues including shoreline restoration, invasive species, Lyme disease, lake living tips, and others.
  • Semiannual membership meetings for socialization and communicating ongoing Lake information: featuring speakers to address topics of interest to members. Meetings are typically scheduled the Saturday mornings of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends
  • Monitoring changes in zoning regulations that affect Lake home ownership
  • Building and maintaining resident signage at key intersections near the Lake
  • Working with local officials to improve and maintain the Lake’s public boat landings; including invasive species signage, monitoring and decontamination equipment
  • Working on landscaping at the entrance to Loon Lake Road
  • Training in the Burnett County Neighborhood Crime Watch Program including the installation of Crime Watch signs throughout the neighborhood
  • Support and participation in the Burnett County Association of Lakes and Rivers
  • Participation on LLPOA Board of Directors consistent with the Association’s Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.

Each membership year begins in May. Suggested annual dues are $30 and are tax deductible. Checks are made out to LLPOA and processed through the Board’s Treasurer.

Non-Loon Lake property owners may also join the Association by making a donation. They may participate in all social and educational activities but have no meeting voting rights.

Please consider getting involved by joining LLPOA. Play a key role in conserving our Lake. If you are already a member, consider telling a neighbor about the Association giving them the opportunity participate.
